| Abstract: | Encountering the work of Emanuel Bonnici puts one in a quandary. Is one to approach it with the proper reverence expected of high profile art, or alternately should one give in to the unavoidable smile which such taunting work inevitably evokes? Is the artist a serious sculptor or a petty prankster? But does one position really exclude the other? Is there a singular logic to how these brightly coloured, many times larger than life objects be read? |
