| Abstract: | In Between is the result of our collaboration with Aġenzija Żgħażagħ on Shifting Contexts, a visual arts project that seeks to provide emerging artists with the opportunity to harness their skills and showcase their talents within a professional context. The exhibition by Matthew and Thomas, with the curation of Prof. Vince Briffa, represents the continued development of these two promising artists, winners of the Shifting Contexts 2018 edition, in their journey to be accomplished in their work within the creative sector. Taking inspiration from the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on the outlook of life as we knew it, these installations present visitors with an experience that allows for direct participation and immersive engagement. Despite their diverse creative approaches, the artists managed to find a balance through themes personal to their own experiences yet still highly relevant to the general public. The project also marks the end of the Spazju Kreattiv 2021/22 season programme, that no matter all the difficulties encountered due to the pandemic, succeeded in bringing more artistic practices to the fore whilst In Between is the result of our collaboration with Aġenzija Żgħażagħ on Shifting Contexts, a visual arts project that seeks to provide emerging artists with the opportunity to harness their skills and showcase their talents within a professional context. While thanking all the stakeholders who made this project possible, we look forward to hosting more ventures that support local creatives and help to champion the importance of arts and culture in society. |
