Abstract: The commonplace, to a person who has not experienced it, is sometimes the most out of place. This is the paradox of experience, this division between the lived and the un-lived, the usual and the un-usual; a bolt which gives access to or alternately securely locks in the impression, gatekeeper to the unfolding of experience, judge and jury of memory. But who operates the bolt? How does one decide to shoulder this responsibility? When does one sabotage destiny’s tracks and prescribe its outcomes? And why become the dictatorial, sole writer of history?
