Abstract: Purpose The aim of the study was to investigate the quality of work life as reported by radiographers working in Malta. The secondary aim was to evaluate, the main factors, if any, affecting local radiographers’ quality of work life. Objectives To distribute a questionnaire to all local radiographers working in general hospitals in the Maltese islands. The data was used to estimate and determine local radiographers’ quality of work life rating score, as well as analyse whether these scores are associated with any particular demographics. The research findings were compared to published literature and conclusions and recommendations arising from the research findings were presented. Methodology A prospective, cross-sectional, quantitative study was conducted amongst an accessible population of 218 radiographers. No sampling technique was used in the study. The AWS questionnaire was used to assess the levels of QWL. A pilot study was done to ensure that feasibility of the study and that the radiographers received the questionnaire, were able to complete it and submit it on the online platform. A total of 83 responses were received. The data gathered from the questionnaires was analysed using IBM SPSS. Results Most participants were female (67.5%), aged between 18-30, Maltese National, worked less than 5 years as a radiographer and are working in a diagnostic department. Most radiographers had a conformity with the workplace and scored high levels of QWL in workload, control, community and values. Meanwhile, the participants found it “hard to decide” in the reward subscale and had low levels of QWL in the fairness subscale. Gender, age group, years of experience and the current department were found to have a significant relationship with the subscale of QWL. Conclusion This study concludes that radiographers have different perspective and levels of QWL. Moreover, it concludes that demographic factors have an impact of the QWL of the individual. Recommendations have been made to the management and future studies to improve the levels of QWL amongst the staff.
