Abstract: Objective: The study evaluated the impact of orthodontic treatment on the quality of life in two patient groups with Class II Division 1 malocclusion. Materials and methods: 98 patients were assigned to Fixed or Twin-block appliance treatment groups. Patients’ treatment needs were categorized with IOTN. The OHRQoL was assessed by OHIP-14 during different periods of treatment. Results: Both groups showed comparable improvements in OHRQoL as the treatment progressed (Anova test p=0.05). Similar results were observed when OHRQoL was analyzed at IOTN subgroup level (Bonferroni Test p<0.05). Conclusion: OHRQoL improved significantly with both Fixed and Functional appliances.
