Abstract: The Meteorological Office at Malta International Airport pie, Luqa, has been measuring various wind parameters for aviation and weather forecasting purposes for many years. The Institute for Energy Technology of the University of Malta is carrying out wind measurements at diverse locations with the primary objective of evaluating the potential for wind power generation in the local context as part of an ongoing research project. Other public and private entities have also collected wind data in conjunction with initiatives and projects of both academic and commercial nature. [Excerpt]
