Abstract: This study on the recycling of urban and industrial waste water forms part of our present studies and is one of the requirements for the completion of our course for the Diploma in Environmental Health. The subject has been analysed from various aspects. The various implications of water use in Malta have been taken into consideration, and ways in which water can be saved either by re-circulation or by treatment have been taken into account. The constituents of waste water generated by both urban and industrial sources, can be sometimes recollected and reused. On the other hand, other constituents, mainly from the industrial sector can be harmful both for the treatment plants involved after collection for reuse and for agricultural purposes. This work has been made possible by the sincere help of managers and engineers in the different food, drink and process industries visited, who gave me all the necessary information asked of them. On what concerns agriculture, the staff at the 'Land and Water Use section' Għammieri, proved to be indispensable.
