Abstract: Directive 2005129/EC of 11 May 2005 concerning unfair business- to-consumer commercial practices in the internal market aims to achieve a high level of consumer protection by harmonizing the laws of the Member States on unfair commercial practice harming consumers' economic interests. This paper introduces briefly the structure of the Directive 2005/29/EC, stakeholders and the types of behavior prohibited. After this introduction, the paper focuses on the possible impact of this Directive on insurance sector.
