Minkejja Ii dak iż-żmien il-Malti kien għadu ma qabadx art bħala lingwa letteratja, fis-sena 1853 hu kien diga ttraduċa mil-Latin ħafna innijiet tal-Brevjar u tal-Missal Ruman.
