Abstract: It will come as a surprise to the majority of members in the Police Force that towards the end of the nineteenth century, Postal Agencies were set up within the village Police stations in Malta and Gozo. Presumably no living member in the Force remembers the Postal Agency functioning as late as 1921. The Police stations of 26 villages in Malta and Gozo were authorise to sell postage stamps in 1891. Thus the Police Force became involved directly with the G.P.O. and the local postal service, the Police Stations had become Postal Agencies.
