Background: Medication non-adherence is a major public health issue, which leads to negative health and economic outcomes. The Theoretical Domains Framework (TDF) is a model which allows systematic evaluation and assessment of barriers - and enablers that influence behaviour change. It is therefore an appropriate framework to apply when studying aspects which affect adherence to medication. The aim of this study was to systematically review published literature that applied the TDF to explore the behavioural determinants which affect adherence amongst patients requiring prescribed medication.en_GB
