Abstract: In September, 1987, Maltese novelist and playwright Francis Ebejer was the guest of the University of Venice and the Comune of Mira at a Conference on Commonwealth Literature organized by Professors Giulio Marra (Chairman), Bernard Hickey, Giorgio Miglior, and Angelo Righetti of the Dipartimento di Letterature e Civilta Anglo-Germaniche of Venice University. More than 30 writers, scholars and critics from various Commonwealth countries participated. Ebejer was invited to write about his literary output, especially that in his second language, English, within the context of bilingualism and certain regional, Mediterranean-European, characteristics.
