As Covid-19 cases are reaching record highs, it might help to take a walk down memory lane and reflect on those days when Malta was constantly under threat not only by all sorts of contagious diseases, deaths and serious injuries due to the ravages of war but also by aerial bombardments that took a heavy toll on the population. This feature celebrates the memory of a personality from those dark days of Second World War Malta; Professor of Preventive Medicine, Albert Victor Bernard, C.M.G., (1885-1955) who was Chief Government Medical Officer.en_GB
