Abstract: Cerium activated yttrium silicate phosphors show blue luminescence under UV excitation. Phosphor utilisation depends on powder characteristics and luminescence properties that are regulated during the synthesis stage. In this paper yttrium silicate based phosphors were prepared by solid state reaction using different molar ratio between SiO2 and Y2O3. The effect of chemical composition and structure on luminescent properties of phosphors were investigated and discussed.
