Abstract: This volume aims to be a tangible sign of gratitude and friendship offered by colleagues, friends, and students of Prof. Gianni Barbiero, professor of the Old Testament at the Pontifical Biblical Institute of Rome, on the occasion of his seventieth birthday. This collection reflects, in the variety of contributions that compose it, the breadth of Prof. Barbiero’s areas of interest, whose works span the entire Old Testament, and the relationships of mutual respect and friendship forged throughout the years of his research and teaching activities. The twenty-four papers collected here practically cover all the canon of the Jewish Scriptures: from the Pentateuch (Exodus and Deuteronomy), to the Prophets (Isaiah in particular), and to the Writings, this being the most well represented section (as was to be expected), with a significant number of contributions (twelve in all) dedicated to the Psalms and the Song of Songs, the two books to which Prof. Barbiero has dedicated most of his research activity, offering an original and insightful contribution to their understanding.
