Abstract: The investment funds industry has grown extensively since the establishment of the international financial centre in Malta. The growth is likely due to a highly developed regulatory framework applicable to investment funds paired with an appropriate degree of flexibility. Malta’s regulatory framework allows for the establishment of different structures and the application of different portfolio management strategies. Being a product-driven jurisdiction with comparatively easy access to decision-makers and the fast adaptation to changing circumstances further underpin Malta’s invest- ment fund industry expansion.
