Abstract: | This project aims to enhance employability and productivity of prisoners in the Corradino Correctional Facility, by providing a number of courses which prepares the inmate for reintegration after release. By increasing their academic and social skills through innovative tarining and software, this project will contribute to the overall labour supply within the economy and improve social cohesion within Malta and Gozo. The date of completion of project is 1st Quarter 2015. The research component, entitled “Socio-Technical Criminological Research outcomes for the Corradino Correctional Facilities” has been carried out in order to depict an understanding of the socio-technical issues that impinge on the employability of inmates on release. The report provides the background analysis for the Research and Development Services (Web-based Solution) which will be delivered through other tenders within the ESF 3.110 and which serve as the basis for post-project continuity. The report reviews the base analysis of employability over the decades as well as the current inmate population structure. This step was taken to analyse whether offenders, despite their wishes to find employment, manage to do so post-release. The data is also analysed to depict the current state of affairs and analyses the prison population structure in order to elicit the population pool that will be targeted for studentship. |
