| Abstract: | The Brig. Alfred Samut-Tagliaferro CBE collection was donated to the University Library by his son, Dr John Samut-Tagliaferro, in 2022. This special collection reflects Brig. Samut-Tagliaferro's wide ranging interests, ranging from History to Criminology and English literature, and is also a testament to his life-long love of music, containing a number of librettos, monographs on classical composers such as Schubert, Verdi, Beethoven and Brahms, and an extensive collection of newspaper articles about opera. The collection is further enriched with a number of early vinyl records dating from the 1940s with recordings of arias sung by famous artists such as Caruso. |
