Abstract: | With the formation of the European Union, many countries in Europe are beginning to feel an increased movement of people from Eastern Europe and from Africa. This is compounded by the fact that Europe is believed to be heading toward the “super-aging population” (Wilson 2007) resulting in many policymakers asking the question whether doors should be opened for immigrants or should the movement of people be restricted. Such labeling has implications for policies relating to integration and social cohesion which in turn influences the imagery and perceptions of the general population. |
