Abstract: During the turbulent years of World War II, people would congregate inside hand dug shelters, of which we have 46 in Mellieha. During this time that could be for an hour or up to three days, people would talk, pray and some drew and carved into the soft limestone, things that were happening around them. Here, we have some examples of graffiti at the Mellieha Shelters.
