Abstract: The decision to write this article was a collaborative one between Moira and the other two authors. Moira provided her written and informed consent to share and publish her personal experience of re-traumatisation whilst seeking justice. The first author of the paper is a mental health academic and activist with a particular interest in collecting mental well-being narratives to raise awareness. The second author is an academic and media producer who is actively involved in raising awareness concerning social issues such as the one that features in this paper. The relationship between the four authors is not within a therapeutic or a professional remit. The discussion that formed the narrative took place on a local radio show produced and presented by the second author. A co-production approach was used to compile the narrative—this required the active involvement of all the authors in every step of the process and in all decision-making. The first author complied the initial draft of the paper which was then reviewed and amended by the other authors. The process was finalised when there was a collaborative agreement between all the authors. During the process of writing this paper, Moira expressed her wish to include her son's voice and together they added his experience, memories and perceptions to the text.
