This dissertation focused on the changes and effects the legalisation of cannabis could potentially have on the University of Malta students. An online questionnaire was distributed to students asking about their perception of the safety of cannabis, the likelihood of adverse effects, their past and future consumption, and so on. The data gathered was analysed and compared to other studies with similar questions, and gender and age ranges were examined in specific questions to see whether there were any distinctions in the variables’ responses. Statistical tests such as the chi-squared test were used to check whether the gender and age range responses had any statistical significance. The results suggested that cannabis is mainly considered a safe substance amongst students and that there is a perception amongst most students that cannabis is relatively easy to acquire. Additionally, when the gender variables were compared regarding the safety of cannabis question, males seemed to think that cannabis isn’t safe more than females. Many of the results obtained were similar to results from other studies from different countries and methods used in the research.en_GB
