The aim of this study is to discuss and evaluate the concept of the up-and-coming Internet of Things devices concerning home security, and how they provide opportunities for criminal activities. These findings and relevant literature were incorporated through research and qualitative in-depth interviews with several participants having different perspectives, that were used to gather factual data. The emergent themes acquired proved the objectives of this dissertation and demonstrated the vulnerabilities and weaknesses of these IoT surveillance devices, established the methods of exploitation regarding these types of devices and acknowledged the lack of awareness and preventative methods. The dissertation concludes by highlighting the key limitations identified and by setting, recommendations and proposals for future studies regarding this subject.en_GB
