Abstract: In recent years, consumer identity theft and financial crime have become more prevalent, and more people are becoming victims of these crimes. In order to find out if there are any demographic or additional trends that could be helpful in reducing consumer identity theft and financial crime, the aim of this dissertation is to investigate the elements that influence their occurrence. A quantitative methodology was utilised to gather data from a sample population. To find any possible trends or patterns that could be present, this data was analysed statistically. The results of this study imply that a number of factors affect the likelihood of consumer identity theft and financial crime. These include demographic variables like age, income, and educational attainment. The research also discovered that some demographic groups are more likely to be victims of financial crimes including credit card fraud and identity theft. Overall, the results of this study indicate that more awareness of the risk of these crimes is needed. This can involve heightened attempts to prosecute those who commit these kinds of crimes as well as education and awareness initiatives aimed at vulnerable demographic groups.
