Abstract: This dissertation and narrative review focused on how effective criminal profiling is in regards to violent and sexual crimes. An introduction was written along with the aims and achievements within the study. A literature review was then written to describe criminal profiling, its history and implementation. The methodology carried out took note of research methods, data analysis and its limitations, starting from a number of 411 records identified whilst then narrowing it down to a total of 12 studies for the final synthesis. The findings, including the operationalization of concepts and the main themes extracted from such findings were discussed and put into tables. Lastly, the conclusion discusses the salient facts and the qualities that were deemed most important in this review. Recommendations were also written that highlights any missing factors that may be considered.
