Abstract: This study aims to identify the forms and functions required for specific niche applications of UX/UI design. The project associated with this dissertation investigates the conception and creation of a UX/UI framework for a mobile app that fulfils the needs of urban art communities. The exploration of form and function allows for an application to be tailor-made to fit the specific behaviour of the community. Semi-structured in-depth interviews were conducted with a local street artist as well as a UX/UI product manager before starting the design process. This was done to not only gain further insight and knowledge on the topic, but also identify any current issues which general social media apps do not cater for. A design process was followed, which included user research, design ideation, branding and prototyping. Based on the findings, the framework should prioritise user-centred design, social interaction features, user-friendly navigation, and the creation of communication between users. The resulting framework presents an extensive solution to the demands of the urban art community, fostering interaction, exploration and documentation. This project also makes an important contribution to the design of mobile applications for this niche target audience.
