The main purpose of this research is to explore and further understand the psychology behind the term confidence through portrait photography. This research project aims to visually provide examples of what factors affect confidence in a photoshoot setting such as, the participants’ feelings about themselves prior to the shoot, the photographer and their attitude, and the environment. It also seeks to explore whether the medium of photography can change one’s attitude about themselves to the better. Data was collected through mixed methodology by using quantitative questions in the survey and qualitative observations, shooting the portraits and one-on-one interviews. All the data collected has been analysed, and results to my purpose of research have been obtained. A book entitled “Aura” was created with the photos and information gathered from the photoshoots and interviews.en_GB
