Abstract: The Maltese Dwarf Hawksbeard, Crepis pusilla (Sommier) Merxmüller, is an annual plant in the tribe Cichorieae. It was first described from the Maltese Islands as Melitella pusilla and subsequently transferred to Crepis by Merxmüller. Up to 1967 it was only known from the Maltese Islands but has since been found in other Mediterranean locations. Following its discovery in 1906, the species was noted from four sites in the Maltese Islands by 1909 [3] but, for at least the past 50 years, has only been known from a single site. [excerpt]
