Abstract: Sustainable development has been a prominent topic in discussions concerning European countries. However, there is a notable research gap regarding sustainable tourism in small EU states. The study aims to analyze the disruptions that small EU states have encountered, hindering sustainable tourism in these regions. Moreover, it has been identified that the most common disruptions among small EU states include Mass Tourism, followed by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, along with pollution, primarily produced as a result of carbon emissions. By providing a comprehensive overview of these disruptions, the study contributes to the understanding of sustainable tourism challenges in small EU states and offers insights for mitigation and management strategies in the foreseeable future.
