The aim of this study was to shed light on the experiences of homeless young people to understand what is leading to homelessness among youth and whether authorities and policy makers are addressing this phenomenon. The research method used in this study was a qualitative one, with seven personal semi-structured interviews with young persons who were homeless in the last ten years being conducted. Thematic analysis was used to identify the recurring themes. Every participant had their own different life experience although common themes emerged from the data: a lack of affordable housing, high rental prices, a low minimum wage, and no family support. Most of the young people were aware of the measures offered to help individuals rent, buy, or apply for social housing, however they did not find them adequate for their context and situation. The study thus concludes that positive legislation does not necessarily translate into adequate housing for everyone.en_GB
