Abstract: Undoubtedly, the small church of Our Lady Taf-Ħlas, standing on its own in a tranquil area amidst the solitude of the Qormi countryside between Qormi and Żebbuġ, on the outskirts of Wied is-Sewda, is the most well-known of all the filial chapels of Qormi. It is regularly visited by people from all walks of life who either come to view this old historical building for its architectural interest or out of devotion, or to present their newly-born babies to Our Lady, a centuries-old religious custom. The meaning of "Tal-Ħlas" is uncertain, and it remains a hypothesis that the church was reconstructed on the same site. However, what is certain is that the church is a building that dates back to the last 15 years of the 17th century.
