dc.description.abstractBig Data is transforming the individual. Many aspects and features of personal lives are being datafied; that is, turned into bits of data by public and private entities, as well as by individuals themselves, in order to record, monitor, track, observe, and learn about our personal actions, behaviours, emotions, and preferences. This article explores this transformation by examining the data-driven life, self-tracking, data exhaust, and (the need for) data rights. The aim is to start a conversation on the meaning of Big Data for us as individuals, and on our interactions and relationships with the digital world and, ultimately, our (digital) selves.en_GB
