| Abstract: | I am extremely happy to have been invited to this book launch and at the opportunity to say a few words about this third installment in Prof David Attard’s extremely ambitious project: The Maltese Legal System. Why do I say this? The way I see it, Prof Attard has set out to create a portrait, a snapshot, of the Maltese legal system. What is the ‘legal system’? It is our laws (written), our caselaw (court judgments and tribunal rulings, apart from soft law e.g. ombudsman opinions), court judgments that obviously include those from Strasbourg and Luxembourg too, legal writings of Maltese jurists for certain, and where applicable foreign legal writings too which we turn to for interpretation. |
| Description: | Held at the University of Malta. This series of books is published by Malta University Press and royalty proceeds are kindly donated by the Author to the Faculty of Laws to use as prizes for deserving students. |
