Abstract: Almost half a century ago, in 1954, on the initiative of the late Fr Joseph Zarb, then parish priest of Zabbar, the Zabbar Museum was opened. But after all these years, a radical reorganisation and refurbishment were very badly needed. Back then, the building of a church museum was a totally new idea for our island. All other museums, whether ecclesiastical or governmental, were all housed in old palaces or auberges. The Zabbar Museum was the first specifically built parish museum.
