Fluctuations in company registrations in Malta : an evaluation

Abstract

In this work I have tried to find out how the Commercial Partnerships Ordinance, 1962 came into its being. After its enactment, a thorough study was entered into, for nearly three years so that the Ordinance would be made workable, before actually being put into force. I have tried to analyse company registrations of the last twenty two years, to try to come up with reasons why certain years were bombarded with registrations and others not. The main sources used during this study were, ministerial and departmental files, which were related to the subject together with blue files held at the Registrar of Partnerships which are available to the public. I have collected other information from reports and files of the Malta Development Corporation, some of which are confidential and not available to the public.
