Telemalta documentation centre : the Maltacom chapter

Abstract

This assignment serves the purpose of examining the existing Documentation Centre, especially the role that it enjoyed in the former Telemalta Corporation. This role is undergoing a process of evolution associated with the birth and growth of Maltacom p.l.c. This work presents a critical study of the unit's current standing accompanied by personal suggestions and opinions on the best possible solutions that should be adopted to enhance the library system. An important current feature is the expansion to the unit's functions brought about by the new setup of the mother organization. This expansion can be explained briefly as besides being a research centre, the unit should also complement with relevant books and documents all the courses undertaken by Maltacom's International Training College. By way of conclusion, this assignment will examine the present Documentation Centre in its three main aspects being first an organization hosted by another larger organization, secondly the work itself which is being carried out there and thirdly the personnel who work in the unit. Through such examination and criticism, a new library system will emerge, which will reflect Maltacom's view for the new millenium.
