Abstract: | Organisational reforms may influence employee motivation. The effect on motivation may be either positive or negative. Changes within organisational reforms that are not mutually agreed upon may demoralise and de-motivate employees. However changes within organisational reforms that are mutually agreed upon are not likely to have negative affects on employee motivation. This case study of Malta Desalination Services Ltd; focuses on five motivating factors that include "Interesting Work'', "Recognition", "Growth /Career Prospects", "Job Security" and "Monetary Compensation". This research was carried out during the change process situation where Malta Desalination Services' employees were being integrated with the Water Services Corporation. The employees' perceptions of the above-mentioned motivating factors were tested for any relationship with the perception of work performance, through the use of a quantitative study using a Likert scale type questionnaire. It was found that "Interesting Work", Growth/Career Prospects" and "Job Security" were not perceived as affecting the perceived work performance. "Monetary Compensation" and "Recognition" were, on the other hand, found to be strongly correlated to perceived work performance. |
