Abstract: It can be noticed that the attitudes of local children as they begin secondary schooling towards P.E., could in general be described as being very enthusiastic. AlI of this seems to dwindle off towards the end of their secondary schooling. This research therefore concentrated on finding out why the attitude towards P.E. goes through this phase of change. A questionnaire was used to elicit information about students' perceptions towards P.E.. A sample of 560 students students, attending Junior Lyceums, Area Secondary Schools and Trade Schools have participated in the questionnaire. It was found out in this study that it is definitely true that the attitude of students change as they go through their secondary schooling. Junior students show a more favourable attitude towards P.E. Also, boys seem to be more willing to be involved in physical action, while girls seem to show more esteem for the subject than boys. OveralI, Trade School students show a more favourable attitude than students coming from other schools.
