Abstract: Joseph Bezzina reviews the background of Ta' Gurdan lighthouse, which was finished exactly 150 years on Wednesday, 8 October 2003. The British Admiralty had long recognized the necessity of a lighthouse along Gozo's Northern Coast, and had asked various Governors of Malta to start the project. Over time, this necessity became more intense.
