Abstract: The talented artists who decided to portray the theme of the Immaculate Conception drew their inspiration from the Bible. This is evident in the graceful depiction of the feminine form, particularly that of the Virgin Mary. The Virgin Mary has been associated with the Moon, since the moon is a symbol of fertility and femininity.
