Abstract: This dissertation explored the effects of a 6-week mindfulness intervention on individuals with epilepsy through a quasi-randomised controlled trial. Using a mixed-method approach, quantitative questionnaire data and qualitative focus group data were collected. Findings showed improvements in mindfulness level, quality of life and decreased anxiety, whilst seizure severity remained relatively unchanged. Yet, it was not determined whether such improvements were attributable to the intervention. The study also highlighted the importance of social support within the epilepsy community. Future studies are recommended to further investigate mindfulness interventions in epilepsy with larger samples and longitudinal designs to provide deeper insights into the long-term efficacy of these programs.
