Abstract: This study examines the lived experiences of female university students diagnosed with Temporomandibular Disorders (TMDs). The retrospective nature of this qualitative study employs an interpretative phenomenological approach. The lack of awareness surrounding TMDs, the disruptive limitations TMDs have on eating habits, and the detrimental impact chronic pain has on one’s mental health were some of the main themes that emerged as participants reflected on their experiences. One-time in-depth interviews were conducted with six university students who volunteered to participate through social media platforms. The analysis of the emergent themes highlighted the frustration participants face in attempting to explain and re-live experiences fraught with painful TMD symptoms. Nevertheless, participants proceeded to disclose these experiences in an effort to support others living with the same pain. This research study highlights the importance of understanding the body’s reaction to stress and emphasizes the crucial need for appropriate interventions. Recommendations for future research as well as suggestions for clinical practice are provided.
