Abstract: This article compares the representation of Israeli Arabs and Palestinians living in the Occupied Territories by Hebrew television news during three conflicts which occurred in 1976, 1987 and in 2000. It is argued that the shifting and multi-faceted representation of each of these two groups at different points in time reflects the overarching socio-political and media-symbolical environments, which promote changing forms of identity-construction of the "other". The interpretative frames produced by the media de-contextualise and de-historicise the conflicts reported, obviating their ethical implications.
