| Abstract: | This paper reviews some of the research which has been carried out on the dialects of Malta and Gozo, homing in on attempts at dialect mapping which have been proposed. The paper sets out to show that an approach which maps differences in the use of specific features (lexical, phonological, morph-syntactic) across localities may be the way forward in the venture of mapping out different dialect regions with a view to a more definitive classification of Maltese dialects. |
