| Abstract: | This study highlights the essential role of Geographic Information Systems in managing Maltese pocket beaches, with insights from the SIPOBED project. GIS integrates diverse data sources, including geology, satellite imagery, and geophysical data, enhancing Maltese pocket beaches understanding and decision-making. Using noninvasive methods, the project reconstructs bedrock geometry and sediment distribution. GIS analysis tools identify seafloor morphology changes, sediment transport patterns, and vulnerable areas. The study underscores GIS as a valuable tool for promoting sustainable Maltese pocket beaches management practices. |
