Abstract: This is a publication by the Commission for the Advancement of Women.
The facts in this publication are intended to illustrate the progress made in achieving equality between women and men in important areas of Maltese society.
The report was compiled by Frances Camilleri on behalf of the Workers Participation Development Centre, University of Malta.
The information is drawn from a wide variety of sources. Some tables have been compiled from published reports and from replies to parliamentary questions. In other cases, data was provided by government departments, namely: the Central Office of Statistics, the Health Information Systems Unit, the Employment and Training Corporation, the Electoral Office, the Education Division, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The figures are the most recent officially available for the period 1980 - 1995.
