Edward de Bono was born on the 19 March 1933 in Malta. His father was a physician and his mother was a journalist who played a key role in obtaining the vote for women in 1947. De Bono was educated at St. Edward's College in Malta. He claims to have been the only student who was allowed to possess his own key to the science laboratory and to have skipped two classes, subsequently being one of the youngest students to finish secondary school in his days. As was expected, de Bono followed family tradition, obtaining a degree in medicine (M.D.) from the University of Malta. [excerpt]en_GB
