Pitocin product for oral administration had been under clinical trial for a few years. It is a medication that provides an effective and convenient method for the induction and stimulation of labor, whereby the author of this article had been invited to participate in the final stages of a clinical trial, prior to the product release on the commercial market. All the patients in this clinical trial were in the Ante-Natal Ward of St. Luke's Hospital, Malta. The material and methods implemented in this trial are described in detail, wherein the results have been positive: complete failure in effecting delivery occurred in only 3 cases, which is 11% only. In twenty cases the tablets were fully successful. The conclusion outlined that if correctly used, Buccal Pitocin is a real aid to modern obstetric practice.en_GB
