Abstract: The rationale behind Indrí Dimech's choice to enhance his property in Għaxaq with hundreds of snails and seashells gathered from local and foreign beaches in 1898 remains shrouded in mystery. Some suggest that he might have been influenced by similar decorations he encountered while traveling abroad. Despite more than a century elapsing, a substantial portion of this distinctive artistic exhibit has withstood the test of time. Nonetheless, there have been significant losses, underscoring the crucial importance of preservation and restoration. Journalist, Fiona Vella discloses that the efforts to refurbish Id-Dar tal-Bebbux in Għaxaq are progressing slowly, shedding light on the property's historical and artistic value.
