dc.description.abstractThe International Review of the Red Cross is a specialised journal on international humanitarian law and creates a forum for debate on humanitarian law, action and policy, during armed conflict and other situations of violence . This issue dedicated to the theme of torture, attempts to capture and reflect the range of debates triggered by the terrorist attacks on 11 September 2001. The contributors to this issue include lawyers, doctors and psychoanalysts, who address legal, psychological and political questions, bringing a variety of academic and practical perspectives to bear on the broader theme. It includes a psychological exploration of 405 torture's impact on societies and individuals and the effectiveness of torture in interrogation in general.en_GB
